The First Step - Tomb Raider Reborn - sketches 3

Her feet have FINALLY been decided on their last positions and I can work on the bow, holster, and final details including scuffs and scratches. I also worked more on the final composition of the background and decided that I did want the left to be white-heavy so represent the source of light coming from that direction. It was also important that the lines of Lara stood out, and if she was surrounded by shadow, it wouldn't happen. The night before the deadline (Japan time 3:30 AM, 12 hours before the deadline), I had chosen my final color scheme and began the general composition for filling in the shadows. I went to bed for 3 hours, then worked from 7 AM to 2 PM my time, turning in the finished piece at 10:00 PM US West Coast time, two hours before the deadline! I really wished I had gotten to the background more than a few hours before the deadline, but there were some extra things going on at my real job that I hadn't taken into account when planning. I could have done more, but I was afraid that I would under-do it by adding more, yet not enough.
